i was five & he was six
we rode on horses made of sticks
he wore black & i wore white
he would always win the fight

seasons came & changed the time
when i grew up, i called him mine
he would always laugh & say
"remember when we used to play?"

music played & people sang
just for me the church bells rang

now he's gone, i don't know why
& to this day, sometimes i cry
he didn't even say goodbye
he didn't take the time to lie

bang bang, he shot me down
bang bang, i hit the ground
bang bang, that awful sound
bang bang, my baby shot me down
